Volunteer Airdrie Society

As the volunteer center for the City of Airdrie and surrounding area, Volunteer Airdrie promotes life-long volunteerism for the benefit of the community's residents, non-profit organizations and companies. Volunteer Airdrie was established in February, 2010 as a volunteer-based independent non-profit society.

Volunteer Airdrie is a member of Volunteer Alberta, Volunteer Canada, Imagine Canada, Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations, Propellus and the Alberta Mentoring Partnership. Locally, we are a partner in Airdrie Resource Council, Welcoming Airdrie and the Airdrie Youth Engagement Strategy Steering Committee.

Volunteer Airdrie promotes volunteerism and advertises volunteering opportunities through its programs, web site, social media, print media and radio. We celebrate volunteerism in Airdrie annually during National Volunteer Week and International Volunteer Day. We also host two Volunteer/Non-Profit Fairs a year (January and September).

Our organization participates in local community events such as the Home & Life Style Show, Farmer's Market, AirdrieFest, Canada Day Parade and the Santa Claus Parade. Volunteer Airdrie helps local non-profit organizations expand their capacity by providing member mentoring through our Volunteer Managers Meetings, which provides a networking forum for non-profit staff to meet, learn and share best practices.

Our current programs include "Volunteer of the Month", Snow and Yard Angels, Youth Volunteer Corps and the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.
