Support ES Students in Learning from Home During Covid19

by Calgary Catholic Education Foundation

The CCEF knows the challenging times' teachers, students and parents/guardians are facing these days with home-based schooling. But for some, it is even more challenging.

Students who have moderate to advanced cognitive disabilities are trying to cope without the familiarity of their daily school routines and sensory equipment they would typically use.

These vulnerable students are usually in school with the Educational Support programs that emphasize the development of essential and supportive skills, including communication skills, motor skills, academic skills, and life skills.

Sensory equipment is a key essential component of their learning, and it can be tools such as Cause-Effect Toys that provide visual and auditory stimulation. Imagine you are in a classroom with six students who have cognitive disabilities; these tools and resources are available to be used by a student at any given time. Now that the students are learning in their home settings, there simply aren’t enough resources to be shared amongst all the students.

The CCEF is committed to providing $2500 in funding to help support these vulnerable students in learning from home. Will you help support us in reaching this goal and having an immediate and lasting impact right here at home in Calgary?
