Good Women Dance Society

Good Women Dance Society (GWDS) is a professional, contemporary dance company whose commitment to fostering a vibrant and sustainable dance community in Edmonton has provided space for both emerging and established artists since 2009. Good Women Dance Collective’s artistic focus is on creating and producing innovative new works with integrity and conviction. GWDS also dedicates a large part of its season to providing education and professional development opportunities through workshops, classes, and mentorship. Current artistic members; Ainsley Hillyard, Alison Kause, Alida Kendell, Rebecca Sadowski and Kate Stashko are passionate about making contemporary dance more accessible to the general public.

Outside of the society’s annual productions, GWDS has performed in numerous festivals and events throughout Alberta and Canada, including Dancefest @ Nextfest, the Edmonton Fringe Festival, the Expanse Movement Arts Festival, Skirts Afire, the Prairie Dance Circuit, The Mayors Celebration of the Arts Gala, A.I.R (presented by Dancers’ Studio West), Feats Festival of Dance, the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, and the Toronto Fringe Festival.

GWDS is proudly supported by the Edmonton Arts Council, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Edmonton Community Foundation, and the Canada Arts Council.
