CALGARY GIRLS CHOIR SOCIETY

The Calgary Girls Choir (CGC) mission is to create and nurture life-enriching
connections and experiences for girls and women through choral excellence.
We envision a world where every girl and woman is empowered to use her
voice.

Led by Founder and Artistic Director Elaine Quilichini, CGC is dedicated to
developing our community of choristers - from ages 6 through adult - by
instilling a passion for music and increasing their skill, knowledge, and
confidence. CGC ultimately empowers choristers through the pursuit of
excellence—a choral ethic that not only embodies polishing pieces for
performance, in-tune singing, and vocal technique, but also leadership,
teamwork, and community.

CGC is comprised of four choirs: Dolce (Grades 1-4); Viva (Grades 4-7); Brava
(Grades 7 and up); and Espressa Women’s Choir. Each choir rehearses
weekly. As well, an important part of the chorister experience is annual camps/
retreats, providing focused vocal development time and team bonding. Over our
30-year history, 1000s of choristers have come through the CGC program and
many continue to sing professionally or in amateur settings. We regularly host
alumni music-making gatherings and have one planned next season.
We are an award-winning and internationally-renowned choir organization,
committed to presenting a unique musical gift to the artistic life of audiences
everywhere. In the upcoming year, our choirs will continue to perform 2-3
concerts a year for Calgarians, and to engage in free outreach performances to
seniors' residences and public spaces such as Market Mall. These live
performances bring their joy of singing to both the underserved and a broader
public and create meaningful opportunities for our choristers to showcase their
work.

Our Brava and Espressa choirs also tour internationally every other year,
engaging in cultural exchange and performing for audiences farther afield. An
upcoming highlight is the Brava (Grades 7 - 12) tour to Spain in June 2026, a
once-in-a-lifetime experience that will inspire musical growth, cultural
connection, and lifelong memories. Brava chorister Felicity recently expressed
the impact of her participation in Calgary Girls Choir on CTV: “...all of us put in
so much work every week to get to where we are and to be able to put that on
an international stage is something that you don’t get to do ever.”

Through our holistic programs, CGC continues to fulfill our vision of empowering
females of all ages through music.
