Program you will be supporting:
Family and Community Support: Our Early Intervention and Prevention programs are designed to prevent stress, crisis and family breakdown. These programs support children, youth and parents with the tools to address and overcome a variety of challenges. These may include poverty, mental health, newcomer assistance, inter-generational trauma and more. We offer cultural-specific support for the Indigenous community we serve, including drumming and healing circles.
Preservation: Our In-Home Family Support programs assist families near or in crisis, including addressing child welfare concerns and improving overall family functioning. We help families heal, build strength and develop resiliency. The care families receive, and the skills they learn, help to potentially prevent involvement of Children’s Services.
Reunification: Our In-Care programs, such as Foster Care and Teaching Group Homes, help care for children and their families after they experience severe challenges. In these situations, CTH provides temporary homes for children and youth who have been separated from their families. Foster Parents, Teaching Parents and staff provide care so that children and youth can experience success in their present day lives while they work towards bringing the family together again.
In all our programs we recognize the complexity of social issues related to the inter-generational trauma experienced by Indigenous communities and endeavour to promote Indigenous values, health, wellness, and cultural connections.
