Fort Edmonton Foundation CARES

by FORT EDMONTON FOUNDATION

The Fort Edmonton Foundation CARES (Creating Accessible Responsive Education for Sharing) initiative focuses on expanding the accessibility of Fort Edmonton Park to children, youth, schools, community groups, First Nations, Métis groups, and culturally diverse communities that may be experiencing social, economic, or geographic barriers.

Since launching in 2021, the Fort Edmonton Foundation CARES initiative has worked closely with Edmonton Public Schools, Edmonton Catholic Schools and organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area, Kids on Track and Rotary Clubs of Edmonton. Working with these organizations helps us reach those in Edmonton and area that would benefit from educational (and fun) experiences at Fort Edmonton Park. These relationships have allowed us to welcome over 1,300 children and youth to Fort Edmonton Park. Our goal in future years is to expand those working groups to include E4C, Mennonite Centre for Newcomers, Zebra Child Protection Centre, Terra Foundation and work closely to establish new relationships in upcoming years. In three short years the program has welcomed over 1,300 children and youth to Fort Edmonton Park.

The Fort Edmonton Foundation and our partners see Fort Edmonton Park as a vital educational and recreational experience for everyone, especially younger generations. The Fort Edmonton Foundation CARES initiative will make sure that all young people, including families are facing physical, social or economic barriers, are given the opportunity to experience Fort Edmonton Park. As Fort Edmonton Foundation CARES initiative evolves the Fort Edmonton Foundation will work collaboratively with our community partners to identify how other limitations/barriers might be addressed.

Ensuring that accessibility to Fort Edmonton Park with programs fully optimized for maximum community and educational benefits. Fort Edmonton CARES initiative provides an inclusive and holistic experience at Fort Edmonton park as well as expanded educational opportunities throughout the year.
